Hey guys!

Over the past couple of days I've been setting up a new personal website for myself, along with the help of Alan; and I'm moving my blog over there now, so I won't be updating here anymore.

The new blog will be at http://johnnydurham.com.

I've been on blogger since 2007 and have posted over 100 entries here in that time, so it'll be a shame to move on. I'll obviously not delete this blog, as it'll be nice to have all my old posts here to look back on in the future, but I won't be posting any new stuff here.

Google reader tells me I have 310 subscribers, in addition to the 141 blogger followers I have here, so there's been a fair number of people out there who have been reading. That makes me very happy, so thank you to everyone who's out there and is interested in reading my ramblings.

I have lots of exciting things happening over the next few days.

Tomorrow morning I'm getting the train down to London. I'm meeting up with James at about 2.30ish, and hanging out with him during the afternoon. I love hanging out around London, there's always lots of fun stuff to do. Hopefully we'll go to the apple store so I can do my first ever dailybooth collab picture xD. So be sure to follow me here if you're not following me already. You wouldn't want to miss out on seeing me AND james in the same picture now, would you? :P [/shameless dailybooth plug]

Then later on in the afternoon, I'll be meeting up with Becky and Charlie. Which will probably involve morefuntimeshangingroundlondon. Oh, also we'll be meeting up with Dave and Ian at some point before 00.15am.

I can book into my hotel room any time from 3pm on the Thursday, so I'll do that at some point in the afternoon so I don't have to carry my bag around London all day.

Then, at 00.15am on Friday, we're going to see Watchmen at the IMAX! I'm super excited for that. I've never been to an imax cinema before. I really wanted to read the graphic novel before seeing the film, but that's not going to happen, so hopefully I'll understand the film. James told me it helps if you know the story before seeing the film, but meh. I'm sure I'll enjoy it regardless. I'm a bit scared I'll fall asleep during the film though, as we're going to see it so late, and I'll have had an early start on the Thursday.

I can see it being about 4am before we all get back to the hotel, and we have a meeting with the RNLI "mystery package" people at 10am.. so I'm not going to get much sleep =/

The meeting with the RNLI will probably go on until about 4ish on Friday. Tom will be there for that so I'm super excited to see him again :) It's been almost a month since I last saw him.. bad times. I'm not sure who else from youtube will be at the RNLI meeting, but it'll be nice to see anyone who turns up. Oh yes! I forgot Alex was coming back from glasgow in time for the meeting, so I will get to see his lovely face again too ^_^

Next, after the meeting with the RNLI, I'll be getting the train back to Dave's house, and will be staying there on Friday night, as we're going to be doing an epic blogTV show on Saturday to help raise money for Red Nose Day (which is a bi-annual fundraising day in the UK which is all about 'doing something funny for money'). I'll probably have to leave the blogTV show early to get back to Sheffield though, as Tom will already be there waiting for me ^_^ Hopefully Conor will still be in Sheffield by the time I get back so I can see him too :)

Sooo yeah! The next few days will be super fun! Seeing lots of people I love, and doing lots of interesting things!

hey blog buddies!

i registered the domain johnnydurham.com nearly a year ago. the page you see if you go there now was supposed to be a temp page while i found some way of building a decent site. i planned on learning some web design skills myself, but i never got passed the basics which allowed me to create that pitiful excuse for a website that you see at the moment.

so basically, i was wondering if anyone could help me with re-designing my website?

ideally i'd like it to something like buck's website, or davedays, or dk1.

a banner at the top, links below the banner to various different pages, and then blog entries in the main section of the website.

it's quite possible you can build a website like those with wordpress? (or something similar?) but yeah, i have no idea how to do that.

if you've read my blog before you'll know that i'm a hard-up student with no money, so i can't really afford to pay anyone to design a website for me, so if there's any generous people out there who just enjoy website design and wouldn't mind doing it for free that would be amazing xD

it's not going to happen is it?! haha

I can't believe it's the 1st of March already.
Are we seriously 1/6th of the way through 2009?!
It's going to be 2010 before I know it.
And 2010 sounds so futuristic.
It feels like we should all be flying around everywhere in little spaceships, or be living underwater or something.
Crazy.

I was looking at my bank statement today and realised that I made more from "online endeavours" last month than in any other single month in the past, which was nice. I actually made more than what I would have made working 20 hours per week at a part time job somewhere, which feels pretty damn great.

Of course, I'm still in masses of debt, and struggle to support myself, but meh...

University is going okay at the moment. I handed in an individual report on communication skills, and a group report on catering processes on friday, and I was pleased with how both reports turned out :)

In other news, I'm traveling down to London on the 12th of March to meet up with the RNLI people again. I absolutely love going to London. It's one of my favourite places to be. So I'm looking forward to that trip.

Aaaand I think that's all I wish to say in the blog post.

so, like, there's this new website you probably won't have heard of.

and there appears to be a battle between everyone to see who can get the most followers.
i guess it was bound to happen.
we're youtubers. we like attention. our egos need to be fed!

i just hit 500 followers!!!
which moves me up to the 8th most followed person on the entire site.

more seriously though...
dailybooth looks like it's going to be a pretty cool site. i like the idea of being able to chronicle my life. to be able to look back a year from now and see what I looked like. after all, a lot can change in a year. i'll probably be living in a completely different place. I might have a new hair style? a beard? an third eye? who knows. so it'll be pretty neat being able to look back and see what I looked like now.

I also like the fact you can leave picture comments to interact with each other. It feels a lot more personal than text comments on youtube or twitter etc. I feel like I'm just repeating what alex said in his latest nerdfighterlike video, so i'll stop talking now.

but yeah, dailybooth seems pretty cool ^_^

and i'd definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't done already.

weekend / math the band

thank you to everyone who commented on either of my last two blog posts.
it was cool getting feedback on my t-shirt designs, and loads of you left nice comments on the blog I wrote at the end of last week when I was feeling a bit miserable, and that cheered me up, so thank you.

i had a really good weekend, so i'm going to blog about it now. it'll probably be really boring to read, so if you're the type of person who gets bored easily, then stop reading now and go and watch a cute kitten fall asleep or something.

for those of you left reading, this is what i did this weekend...

i got home on friday afternoon, and had my hair cut.
then i went out on friday night with my friends, wid and morgan.
it was really cool seeing them both again -- just chatting and catching up.
we went to some different pubs than we'd usually go out to, and sampled a few real ales which was fun :)
towards the end of the night we were in loveshack (which is pretty much the only club durham has to offer) and we were all just dancing on the dance floor. i go to the toilet, and when i come back they're both dancing separately with two girls. i would have just gone to the bar to get a drink, but by this time of the night, i had no money left, and i didn't want to just stand around doing nothing, so i awkwardly danced sort-of-near-them-but-not, and hoped that no one on the crowded dance floor would notice i was just dancing by myself. i soon got bored of doing this though, and i saw a pretty girl by the edge of the dance floor, so i went over to say hello. i obviously wasn't looking for anything to happen with her, but i was bored and had nothing to do to pass the time until my friends were ready to leave and get a taxi home, so thought i might as well just go strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. i resisted the urge to use one of my chat up lines on her, although I kind of wanted to, just to see what the reaction would have been xD. I was pretty drunk though, and think I remember telling her that she had the most beautiful eyes I'd ever seen. god bless alcohol and its ability to lower your inhibitions and say whatever pops in to your mind. anyways, we chatted and flirted for a bit, but nothing happened. my friends and I then left, got some pizza and went home. good night all in all.

i got up fairly early on saturday, and went through to newcastle to meet a couple of my other friends, kelly and tom.

tom was working until 4, so kelly and i went to get some food at this quaint little sandwich cafe called blakes. i was hungover and felt a bit woozy, so only ate half my sandwich, even though it was rather nice. i also drank a can of orange fanta. i hadn't had fanta in aaages, so that was lovely.

we then met tom and went to northumbria's student union for a drink.

kelly and tom are two of my favourite people of all time, so it was great seeing both of them again, and catching up :)

on saturday evening I went out for a meal with my mum, step-dad, sister, and two step-siblings to celebrate my mum's birthday. we went to the newton grange (which is the pub/restaurant i used to work at a few months ago). we ate nice food, and I got to see a few of my old work colleagues, as well as getting to spend a bit of time with my family, so it went really well :D

then today, sunday, i've been to see my grandparents, my mum took me shopping to stock me up with groceries for the next few weeks, and then i drove back to sheffield.

so yeah.. it's been an awesome weekend seeing all my family and friends again.

i miss being at home in durham around everyone i love.

it's also been cool having a couple of days away from the internet again. the past few weeks i've been feeling more and more compelled to distance myself from the internet world. i think i'll probably talk more about that in a future blog post though. (nb: the irony of posting an online blog about distancing oneself from the internet isn't lost on me, just incase you think i'm crazy xD)

oh oh.. before i leave, i should send you all to listen to some amazing music!

my math the band banned the math CD arrived in the post along with a math the band tee shirt while i was away this weekend! wooooop! :D

some of you will have heard of math the band, and others won't.. either way, go now and listen to them on myspace! guarenteed to make you feel good :)

life sucks.

i'm feeling terribly miserable thisevening.
so i'm going to have a little moan here to make myself feel better.

i hate being in sheffield. it's horrible. it's lonely. it's boring.

i'm so thankful i've been able to take a few trips away during the past couple of months. going down to london 2 or 3 times. flying across to ireland. going to derby. it's kept me sane.

there are things i do like about being in sheffield. namely, the awesome flat i get to live in. but other than that, i completely hate being here.

i'm stuck doing a course i have absolutely no motivation to do. and it's costing me a fortune to be here. my life savings have all-but-gone after this academic year, not to mention the fact i'm further in debt with my student loan. i must have about £15,000 worth of debt now. i kind of feel like i'm failing at life. suprisingly, it's not a nice feeling.

people try to console me by stating that i only have a few more months here until i graduate.. but that doesn't make it any easier to motivate myself to do the work which i despise doing. it is a shame though, as I put in so much work during the first 2 years of the course, but on a day-to-day basis i struggle to see the big picture.

one of the worst things though.. is that even after i've graduated (assuming i actually do graduate) i have no idea what i am going to do with my life. perhaps that is something i should get excited about. i can do whatever i want with my life. but it doesn't excite me, it scares me.

i guess for now, i just have to take each day as it comes.. starting tomorrow.

- collect the package which is waiting for me at the post office
- post tom his cd back
- send receipts off to hat trick
- buy birthday card/presents for my mum
- possibly make a new video?
- possibly do some uni work?
- explore dailybooth xD
- drive home to durham for the weekend

tom just sent me a track from his upcoming album while i was writing this blog which has actually cheered me up immensely. i still have no idea what i'm doing with my life, but at least now i'm failing at life whilst listening to a pretty boy making pretty music :)

I was bored today, so I decided to throw some t-shirt designs together, just for fun :)

I should mention that the 2 dinosaur illustrations were done by vee, not me, but all the t-shirt designs themselves I did ^_^

Hope vee doesn't mind me using her illustrations.. I assume it'll be ok seeing i'm not actually selling them, or making any money off them. xD

You obviously can't buy any of the tees because they're just designs, and I have no way of actually printing them. I suppose it would be easy enough to upload some designs to a site like cafepress or skreened, but those companies take such a huge cut of the profits, that it's just not worth it.

For a long time now, I've been really interested in setting up my own t-shirt "business"... where I would actually buy the screen-printing equipment and all the materials needed etc, and sell t-shirts independantly, rather than using one of the aforementioned sites that sell your designs for you.

I'm not really that artistic, so I probably wouldn't be able to come up with any great designs.. but the thing I think I would be good at is promoting and marketing the t-shirts if I ever were to set up a business. I've got lots of ideas of how to make a clothing line popular and successful. They're not even groundbreaking ideas; simple things like giving free tees to popular bands, and getting them to wear them for photoshoots and live gigs. Kids see their favourite rockstars wearing a cool tee, and want one for themselves...

So yeah.. I've got lots of ideas like that of how to make a t-shirt business successful, so part of me really wants to follow this dream.

Things holding me back from actually doing something about it though are...

- I'd probably need to work with someone who's good with graphic design/photoshop so they could bring my ideas to life and help design some great tees.
- I'd need to buy the screen printing equipment to actually print the designs on to blank tees which I could buy in bulk from american apparel or gildan or such. But screen-printing equipment isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination. Also, it's quite a skilled process to actually use the equipment, so I'd either need to hire someone to do it... or take workshop classes to learn for myself.
- I have no money to do any of this.
- There are countless other things holding me back, some of which I probably haven't even considered yet.

Gah, if only someone said "Here, take this £10,000 to follow your dream and set up your t-shirt business. Pay me back if it becomes successful, but if you spend all the money on it, and it completely falls on it's face, then don't worry about it."

Hah.. anyone reading this have a lot of money to spare? No? Didn't think so :P

I know this blog post probably makes me sound like I've got my head in the clouds, or that i'm dreaming unrealistically. I probably sound like a kid who gets asked what they want to be when they grow up, and they say they want to be an astronaught. Then again, some kids DO grow up to be astronaughts.. so I guess there's no harm in having a dream, even if it is a bit far-fetched. And I'm sure there was a time when people like Johnny Earle and Paul Griffiths had a similar far-fetched dream... and look at them now.

This weekend has been so amazingly awesome!

I just tried writing a blog about it, but it started to get sooooo lengthy, so instead I shall bullet-point some of the amazing things which made it as good as it was :D

- John Green's books 'An Abundance of Katherines' and 'Looking For Alaska' arrived!
- I met up with Charlie, Alex and Jimmy - it was awesome to finally meet jimmy.
- I had a meeting with Hat Trick Productions which went really well, and I'm super excited about our future plans with them.
- Alex passed on a freakin' signed copy of Hank Green's album 'So Jokes' which Alan had sent him to give me <3
- I got given Chameleon Circuit pin-badges :D
- I met up with James, Becky, Tom, and Ed.
- We went to CYBER CANDY! (again)
- We ate yummy dumplings in China Town
- Spent ages in the Disney store, and Build-a-Bear
- I met two of Tom's friends who were absolutely lovely.
- Asal (one of tom's friends) let me stay at her house on friday night, which was amazing, because it meant I could stay with tom, and spend valentine's day with him today, instead of having to get the last train home to sheffield on friday night like i thought i might have had to ^_^
- Ate the most delicious veggie burger at The Burger Co. in kings cross with tom, before having to leave london :(

There are so many other little things which I haven't included which made this weekend amazing, but it's impossible to mention them all, and I think I mentioned the main points, so all is gooood :)

They announced on their official website yesterday that they're back in the studio, writing and recording a new album, and that they'll be touring the world again in summer 09! :D

As soon as I heard the news I went back and listened to all my old blink albums and got awfully nostalgic :)

I started listening to blink around about 1999/2000 when enema of the state first came out, and subsequently went back and bought their 2 previous albums, and bought their following 2 albums before they went on a break. They're one of those bands for me, who have a lot of strong memories attached to their music.

Being 15. Sitting outside the rowing club in durham on a friday night with my friends, drinking vodka and 15p cherryade mixed together in a plastic bottle; listening to blink182 and other rock music of the time blarring out of the 'under18 rock night' held at the rowing club. Walking through newton hall, listening to their music on my portable cd player. Using quotes from their songs to describe my feelings for my friends, and my parents. Having secret house parties whenever my mum would go away for the weekend, playing "I want to fuck a dog in the ass" full volume and singing along like an idiot with all of my friends xD.

So many great memories! :D

Which is why I'm completely stoked to have them back together again! I'm definitely going to have to see them live if they come to the UK this summer!

As a little footnote to this blog post, I'm still not technically back off my internet hiatus :P I haven't been on youtube/twitter/skype at all since yesterday morning, and have only been online occasionally to check my emails. It's been nice having a little break.. although I'm starting to miss the internetz already, so I'll no doubt be back in the full swing of things pretty soon xD

I was looking at the stats on my 'Are You Straight?' video today, and noticed I had over 1,000 hits from an embedded video on a site called somanyboys.net, so I went to check out the site. It's a site about cute guys -- so i'm not quite sure why my video's on it?! It isn't a porn site, but if you're not interested in seeing semi-naked guys, I wouldn't bother going to the site.

Anywho, the reason for this blog post is that I came across the picture you see above on their site, and it caught my attention. I think the reason it caught my attention is that it kind of summarises how I've been feeling for the past couple of days. I wake up, switch my laptop on, and i'm just sucked in to the cyberworld. I sit here all day, refreshing the same few websites, hoping someone will have posted a new youtube video to watch, or seeing what people are up to on twitter. It's like I've become dependant on getting a continuous fix of the internetz, and I just completely ignore the outside world. I literally don't think I've left my flat in the past 48 hours. It's not healthy.

I think I need to unplug myself. Go on a little hiatus. Take a break from the internet world.

My will power is astonishingly low when it comes to neglecting my laptop though, so I'll no doubt be back on in a couple of hours, but at least for now, I'm taking a break.

I'm going to sign out of all my online accounts. Then I'm going for a shower. Then I'm going to eat. Then I might have a wander into town. And then we'll see where the wind takes me.

I've had a little fall out with blogTV today, to the point where I really don't want to continue doing my scheduled shows on their site anymore.

Previously, I'd been going live on blogTV every Monday and Friday at 10pm GMT, but I think I'm going to completely scrap that schedule now.

I wish I could give more details about it but I don't think it's really something I should be talking about in my blog.

It's been so nice having people come to my shows, and having everyone getting involved by asking me questions, sending me jokes to read out, helping with the "Share the love" feature, and so on. It's been fun for me, and hopefully it's been fun for all you guys who've been coming to watch the shows. So I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has come along to the shows and made them what they were.

In a way I feel a little guilty for ending the shows just because I've fallen out with blogTV, and it sucks that I'm not going to be able to interact with everyone in the same way now that I'm stopping the shows, but it's something I think I have to do. I'll probably go live every now and again just to check in with you all though, so look out for twitter updates about me going live.

i don't really update this blog much anymore.
i think it's because i have so many other outlets for my thoughts.
like, if something happens to me which i feel like sharing, i'll talk about it in my blogTV show, or i'll make a youtube video, or update my twitter, or simply talk to people on skype... so yeah, apologies for not updating more often...

the past couple of weeks have been fun.

- new years party with lots of amazingly awesome people
- trip to ireland, with a dublin gathering and a day of filming with the TV network RTE
- having Toddly00 come stay with me in sheffield

i'm sure there are other interesting things which have happened, but i cannot think.

i got sent a couple more drawings! the one you see at the top of this blog, and the rather lovely cartoon version of me below ^_^

receiving drawings people have done of me, continues to make me exceptionally happy :D

in my blogTV show on Monday I reached 22,222 subscribers on youtube....

actually, I was on 22,225 while doing the show, so I got 3 people to unsub, so that I could see the figure at exactly 22,222! I love when numbers are all pretty like that ^_^

I took a screen shot of the momentous 22,222 milestone, but forgot to save it :(

Today though, I've just seen that I have 22,333... which is also a cool number, because there are two 2s and three 3s :D

Obviously it'd be cooler if the number were 122,333... but I think I may have to wait a while for that to happen xD

in fact, i highly doubt i'll ever accumulate even close to 100,000 subs... who knows though i guess.. once upon a time i didn't even think I'd get 100 subscribers, and look what happened.

Today I was looking through the photos I'd taken on my phone during the past few months, and I thought I'd post a few of them here...

I mentioned in my blog a couple of months ago that I was going to stay with my friend Jordan in Oxford, and that we'd be taking a day trip to London.

It was such an awesome weekend! Whilst we were in London, we went to the Frieze Art Fair in Regent's park.

The Frieze Art Fair showcases some really cool pieces of art. I particularly loved this sculpture of a skull made with shiny pieces of metal ^_^

Then, my friends and I came across these cool sculptures, and we thought it would be funny to re-enact the expression that each head was making (because we're ever-so-childish like that):

There was also a interesting piece of art depicting a crime scene, which I liked :)

It's one of my favourite things in the world when people send me drawings they've done of me!

It's so freaking awesome!

Occasionally I get messages from people asking if they can use a video still (or another image I've posted online) for an art project, and obviously I'm always more than happy to let people use me for their art ^_^

I find it completely flattering.. it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :D

The following piece of art was created by Manny Lopez. I really, really love this artwork.

The image of me was taken from this video. Manny was kind enough to explain to me what inspired the art piece and what it represents. The piece is all about going on a journey of self-discovery; to look deep inside yourself and find out who you really are; to change aspects of yourself that you might not like; but also, to accept and embrace your self-perceived imperfections.

I found the following two images saved in my "downloads" folder, so I obviously downloaded them from an email or something, but I can't remember who sent me them.. so i'm sorry for not including any links to you if you're the artist behind either of these pieces.

I really like this one... it's probably the best lifelike drawing I've ever been sent of myself :)

This next one is pretty funky and retro. I think I look a bit like a transexual though xD

Project for Awesome 2008.

Yesterday, 17th December 2008, was the day of the second annual Project For Awesome.

This is the video I made for the project:

The project has been so much fun again this year! It's amazing to see all the P4A videos taking over the most discussed pages / most rated pages of YouTube.

I'm especially pleased that my video in particular has done so amazingly well! At the moment of writing this blog, my video is the 7th most discussed and the 2nd most rated video on the entire site for today.

Obviously, the only reason my video has done so well is because it had the support of Alan, Hank and John. But I'm just really pleased that of all the P4A videos made this year, mine has done so well. I feel like I'm being slightly selfish in the fact that I'm analysing my own videos performance over other videos, but I'm just really enthusiastic about the charity I chose (Save the Children). I'll also admit though, that it is rather cool from a personal point of view, to be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Buck, vlogbrothers, Julia Nunes, communitychannel, LisaNova etc

The only down side this year is that all the P4A videos don't seem to be getting the view-count that they got last year. In 2007 we were able to take over the Most Viewed pages too, but this year that hasn't really happened. Perhaps because there has been exponentially more videos made this year in comparison to last year, so the views are being "watered down" and spread across more videos.

Other than that though, the Project has been a huge success again this year, and I think we've all done a great job of raising awareness for a LOT of great charities!

It's also been cool to have Alan, Hank and John going live on blogTV for the entirity of the project!

I'm going to be starting my own LIVE show on blogTV.

It'll be every Monday & Friday at 10pm GMT / 5pm EST.

I'm not too sure how well the show will go down. I know some people hate when youtubers start doing blogtv shows.

I've decided that I'm going to make just one video for JohnnyDurham19 where I promote the new show, and after that, I don't want to upload any more blogtv videos. For some reason, people seem to get really angry when youtubers post up little videos saying that they're going live on blogtv. I can see why these videos are annoying. People subscribe to channels on youtube to see interesting, creative videos... not just to be notified that you're going to be streaming live on a completely separate website. I don't want to continually piss off my subscribers, so after the initial pimping of my show, I'm not going to make videos announcing that I'm going live.

I really do want the shows to go well though, and I'd like lots of people to come and enjoy the shows, so I'll probably twitter update / myspace bulletin whenever I go live.

I also might occasionally make a "I'm going live on blogTV" video to post on my PumpkinSplat channel if I ever have a particularly interesting show lined up, just to hopefully bump up the number of viewers. I'm not so worried about subscriber numbers on PumpkinSplat, seeing as it's just my second account which I use to post less-than-adaquete videos anyway... so if people hate me posting the blogTV announcement videos on PumpkinSplat, then they can always just unsubscribe from there, and hopefully still stay subscribed to my main channel :D

I just downloaded webcammax to use during my live shows, so that I can do cool things, like overlay text, play videos, show pictures, draw on my face (charlieissocoollike style). At the moment I just have the trial version which puts a stupid huge advert across the top of my broadcasting, so I might spring out and purchase the full version to get rid of it.

I'm a little apprehensive about actually doing the live shows. Outside of my youtube videos I'm generally quite shy and quiet around people I don't know... so broadcasting live to potentially hundreds of viewers is kind of daunting. I've done a few liveawesomeguys shows on Alan's blogTV channel, and I was pretty damn nervous whilst doing them... although the more I've done them, the more comfortable I've started to feel in front of my webcam... so I'm hoping that after a week or two of doing my own shows, it'll become much less stressful xD

I have a good idea of what I'm going to do for the first couple of shows, but after that I don't really have a plan... I'll have to try and think of interesting things to do and to talk about. If you have any ideas of what you'd like me to do in my shows, leave them in the comments of this blog! (unless your suggestion is going to be "LOL, I think you should just get naked, LOL". in that case, don't bother commenting :P)

Charlie's latest video got me thinking about best friends.

I got sent the above card a couple of years ago by my best friend.

It perfectly described our friendship. We had this amazing connection where we always knew what the other person was thinking. We could talk about anything. Share our deepest secrets. Giggle about things that no one else found funny.

Somewhere along the line though, we lost our groove.

I miss how things used to be. I miss having a best friend.

Life's kinda lonely without having a best friend to share your hopes, fears, and dreams with.

I don't want this blog post to sound unappreciative though. I do have a lot of great friends both online and offline. It's just... at the moment, I don't have a best friend... and that makes me a little bit sad.

I obviously love all the friends i do have though, and i'm thankful for all you guys <3.

Spider / Youtube Live

I promise this is my last blog post about spiders...

But I just got sent this "business spider" by the wonderful Joseph Macloed!

It is absolutely beautiful! I loved it! So I wanted to post it here for all you lovely readers to see :D

Joe sent this spider to the email address I use for msn. I never usually check the emails on that account though, so the only reason I saw it is because Joe's twitter message prompted me to go looking for it. While I was signed in to that email address looking for Joe's spider, I noticed two emails from youtube dating back to October. It turns out I had been offered 2 VIP type tickets to the Youtube Live event which took place on November 22nd.

I know several people in the UK got invited to the event, but I thought youtube had just overlooked me. I'm glad they didn't ^_^ Although I'm slightly annoyed I only just saw the invitations today after the event has already passed. I wouldn't have been able to afford to go to San Fran for it anyways, but it would still have been nice to know prior to the event, that I had been invited... ahhhh well.

I also feel a little bad about not RSVPing to let youtube know I wouldn't be able to make it, as in the email they asked if I could let them know either way, so that my reserved tickets could be offered to someone else if I couldn't come. Hopefully I'm not in Youtube's bad books now for ignoring their invitation xD

In conclusion, I have changed the email account which is linked with my youtube account, so now all emails will get sent to johnnydurham@gmail.com, which I check several times each day, so something like this will not happen again :)

organ donorcard!

I registered myself on the NHS Organ Donor Register a few weeks ago, and I received my donorcard in the post today :D

It reminded me about what a great thing I'd done by signing up.

Now I can proudly carry my card around in my wallet with me, wherever I go xD

There are more than 9,000 people in the UK alone who are waiting for an organ, so by registering myself, I could end up saving someone's life after I die.

I wouldn't ever tell anyone to sign up to become an organ donor, because I know it can be a difficult decision, and some people don't like the thought of losing their organs after they die...

But I would like anyone who reads this to take a second and really give it some thought.

I might be going to London on saturday for the ADVENT GATHERING.

I also just found out Four Year Strong / Set Your Goals / New Found Glory / Crime In Stereo are playing at the Brixton Academy on Friday night.

I really want to see Four Year Strong! and i wouldn't mind seeing the other bands who are playing tooooo..

So I thought it would be pretty cool to go down to London a day early, go to the gig on friday night, stop over at a youth hostel, then go to the gathering on the saturday.

I'm not going to go to a gig by myself though, so the only way this plan will work, is if other youtubers are keen to go to the gig too! :D

soooo yeah.. if you're interesting in going to the gig with me on friday and then youth hosteling together on the friday night, then let me know, and we can arrange it via skype or something.

Alan posted a blog the other day entitled "Songs To Change Your Life To".

It's basically a list of songs which have strong memories attached to them. Songs which have meant a lot to you, for one reason or another.

I thought it was a cool idea to come up with a mix cd like this, so i've been working on my list. Below is the list with notes explaining why each song has been included.

1. I saw it on your keyboard - hellogoodbye
In the first proper relationship I ever had, we named this song "our song". It's one of the most played songs of all time on my itunes. Hellogoodbye never cease to cheer me up when I'm down.

2. Revenge on the radio - Danger is my middle name
The fiveawesomeguys theme tune. Whenever I hear this song, I think of Alan, Charlie, Alex and Todd, and how awesome they all truly are. Whenever I'm on my way to see Alex and Charlie, I listen to this song, and I get excited about seeing them again :D

3. Hide & Seek - Imogen Heap
I remember talking to my friends Kelly and Nicolle about the topic of death once. I've always thought that I'd like this song to be played at my funeral. Not so much for the lyrics of the song, I just like the way it sounds, and think it would be fitting to be played at a funeral.

4. Don't Leave Me - Blink 182
Blink 182 were one of the first rock bands I think I ever listened to. I remember playing the album this song is taken from on my portable CD player when I'd walk from my house, to my friend Kelly's house when I was about 15. (We didn't have mp3 players back in those days xD)

5. Oh shooting star! - Nice Guys Finish First
This is my "feel-good" song. It invariably makes me get up off my chair and dance around my room like a complete idiot. Russell (of NGFF) writes the cutest lyrics EVER. They always make me smile. He wrote a song called "If it wasn't for the distance"; the lyrics of which always make me think of Liane Graham.

6. Just a day - Feeder
My first holiday without my family was when I went to Menorca with 5 of my friends from school when I was 17. It was an amazing vacation. This was the anthem to that holiday.

7. Fat Lip - Sum 41
I used to listen to Sum 41 a lot when I was an angsty teenager.

8. Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
The Black Parade album helped get me through a really tough time in my life. I've listened to this song more than 500 times. I'll never get tired of hearing it. It is epic.

9. Sugar, We're Goin' Down - Fall Out Boy
In my first year of uni, I remember being in our student union nightclub with one of my best friends called Sarah. We were jumping up and down on the dance floor singing our hearts out to this song. Happy memories.

10. Mr. Brightside - The Killers
This song gave me goosebumps the first time i heard it. I've drunkenly sang along to this song countless times on the dance floor with my friends too.

11. St Jimmy - Green Day
When I moved away from home for the very first time, I bought American Idiot a couple of days after moving in to my new flat. It kept me company when I felt scared and alone.

12. Sweetness - Jimmy Eat World
I've never been a big fan of Brookers but I loved this video that she posted on her Quiet Riot account. Turn up your volume, and FREAK THE EFF OUT to this song.

13. Snaps are the new claps - Bad News Bears
Another "feel-good" song of mine. I listen to this when I need to cheer up. It makes me want to dance.

14. Reflections - Handshakes and Highfives
A song I found in early 2008 when I was going through a really bad time in my life. This song helped drown out all the shit that was going on around me. I'd listen to it, and forget everything else existed.

15. Twin Chevron remix - Sabrepulse
Yet another "feel-good" song.

16. I will follow you into the dark - Death Cab For Cutie
..because a mix cd wouldn't be a mix cd without Death Cab.

today is election day in the US...

i wish i could vote!

i've never really been interested in politics here in the UK, but i've been so interested in the US presidential elections recently!

i'm a huge barack obama supporter. i agree with his views/policies on almost everything. i like his views on how to change the economy, withdrawing troops from iraq, gay marriage/equal rights, being pro-choice on the topic of abortion, and so on...

on the opposite hand, i have no idea why anyone would even consider voting for mccain. i understand he does have his strengths. notably his age, and experience. but his views on things seem to be so outdated and closed-minded.

for example, his stance on gay rights and abortion make me so frustrated. he has the same opinions as that of an ignorant, bigoted redneck. damn republicans.

i'm probably slightly uninformed on some topics surrounding each candidate's policies, and i'll not pretend i'm an expert on the presidential debates, because i'm not. but i know enough to make an educated decision on who i think would be best as the next president.

the polls are currently showing that obama is favourite to win. i dearly hope the polls are correct.

(forgive me if i've insulted anyone reading this who supports mccain. i'm just stating my opinions.)

it seems that youtube has added a new feature,
where you can add a list of youtubers to your profile.
(i think this feature might just be for partners though)

i can't decide whether i like it, or despise it.

i think it's cool that you can add a list of people that you like to your channel.
you can give exposure to the people you think make great videos,
and you can show off your youtube friends.

if someone adds me to their list, then i'd be over the moon! :D
it'd make me feel special, and loved.

but at the same time, there are only 16 spaces on the list..
which means you're bound to leave someone out who feels like they should be on your list.

it seems to have an elitist element to it, which i think i hate.

it's similar to the whole "top 8 friends list" on myspace....

chris crocker explains things better than I ever could... xD

for now, i've put one of these lists on my youtube profile.

i might remove it though.

but yeah... i'd like your opinions?

i'm really excited about the next couple of weekends!

this coming weekend, i'm going down to stay with my friend jordan who lives in oxford. he's doing a phd down there. i'm getting picked up by my two friends; michael and morgan, who are coming down from durham, and then we're going to drive on down to oxford together for the weekend.

our other friend laura is also doing a phd in oxford, and she's invited us to a party on the saturday night, so i'll hopefully get to see her then too! ^_^

and i think we're planning on having a day trip into london on the sunday which will be cool!

here is a picture of the three guys i'll be hanging out with all weekend, just so you readers can picture what they look like, and can imagine us all having fun together xD

so yeah, i'm looking forward to this weekend!

i'll be staying overnight at alex's house, and then we'll be going along to the youtube gathering on saturday afternoon which i'm super excited about! i haven't been to a proper youtube gathering in over a year, so it'll be fun! there's lots of people i'm looking forward to meeting :D

oh, and i think i'm getting the bus down to london on the friday with calum (itscalum010) so it'll be cool to spend some more time with him again after we hung out last weekend.

my mind works in weird ways.

on the one hand, it tells me that i can barely afford to live.

it makes me buy noodles for 7p, a big box of breakfast cereal for 36p, a litre of blackcurrent cordial juice for 18p.

i'm pretty much only getting the cheapest food money can buy, because i tell myself that i can't afford to spend too much money on simply filling my tummy.

yet, my brain seems quite happy to allow me to go out and spent £8 on a new CD...

silly brain.

having said that though, i'm super glad i did splash out on the CD. i bought you me at six's debut album; take off your colours. it is AMAZING!

you me at six are currently touring the UK, and are supporting fall out boy at a few gigs.

i want to go see them so bad, but i'm not free on the dates when they're coming near me :'(

ahhh well, i will have to just enjoy listening to the CD instead of actually getting to see them live

plus, i'll save money on buying a ticket for one of their shows.. WOOOP! xD

It has been exactly 2 years, to this very day, since I signed up to YouTube. Back on October 15th, 2006, I had no idea what a significant, life-changing decision that would be.

I originally signed up just so that I could comment on random music videos, clips of the tv show friends, and other generic videos of the sort.

I then stumbled upon an underworld of vloggers talking to their cameras.

itsSelvo was the very first person I subscribed to, closely followed by renetto... followed by paperlilies, and many others...

I started leaving comments on their videos, but then I began to feel guilty that they would have no idea who I was, because my channel was completely bare.... so I started to make videos of my own.

After 3 months of making vlogs, I got featured on the global front page of youtube, and gained hundreds of subscribers over night.

Since then my subscriber number has continued to grow, to the point now, where I have over 18,000 subscribers.

Youtube has played a significant part in my life over the past two years. I have travelled up and down the country because of it. I've gone to London to meet up with fellow vloggers, been to Thrope Park theme park, stayed with Charlie in Bath whilst going to see him in his play, been invited to the RNLI headquarters down in Poole for a weekend packed full of fun lifeboating activities...

I've made lots of great friends on youtube both in the UK, and overseas...

It's strange how youtube could be described as "just" a website on the internet, and yet, it's played such a big part in moulding me into the person I am today.

I know today is just a day like any other on youtube, and it doesnt really matter that today is the 15th of October, but the date has made me feel awfully reflective and nostalgic...

I guess the point of this blog post is to say say thank you. Thank you to YouTube. Thank you to everyone who has watched my videos, who has commented, rated and favourited, and all those people who have subscribed to me. I'm blown away by the fact that I have so many people watching my silly little videos on youtube. It means the world to me.

I wonder where Youtube will take me in the next 2 years?!

this weekend has been so much fun!

on saturday, Calum came to Sheffield to hang out with me. we did lots of fun things together. we had starbucks. we saw "jamaica's #1 speed chess player". we saw several guys doing some wacky dancing. we spent a rediculously large amount of time in the pound shop buying lots of silly things! we got lost trying to find a 10 pin bowling alley. the whole day was amazing!

oh, and the Space Duck you see in the picture above is what was inside the box on my previous blog post! ISN'T HE AWESOME?! thanks calum (y)

on sunday, Tom Milsom came to visit me! tom is so lovely. we also did lots of fun things together! we sat on a rather beautiful patch of grass, and tom played me some BEATZ he had been working on during the train journey to sheffield :) we skype called with toddly00 and chrisontv88. we ate pizza. i touched tom's hair. it was a good day ^_^

i'm super excited about the next couple of weekends too, as i've got lots planned! :D

but i shall talk about those in future blog posts :)

why do paper cuts hurt so much, when they're SO small?!

i accidently got a paper cut on my bottom lip!
and it hurts like crazy!

on tuesday, two of my awesome guys dyed their hair and then shaved it all off for charity.
they raised over £4,000 for Cancer Research.
they did this whilst broadcasting themselves live on blogtv to thousands of people on the internets, for 7 hours.

i've just read back my last blog post, and realised it might have sounded a bit like i was ungrateful for getting featured...

i didn't mean it to sound like that!

it's an honour to get featured. it's awesome! i love it! it makes me happy, and proud. and it makes my giblets tingle.

youtube can choose from thousands of videos to feature, but they chose mine, which obviously makes me feel very special :)

also, the video has ended up doing really well. it had about 9,000 views when it got featured (i think), and a day later it is now up to over 70,000 views, which is truly awesome!

i got a nice text from Laura at the RNLI today as well, to congratulate me on having the video featured, which was super kind of her :D

i'm looking forward to what's coming up next with the mystery package people! :D

i got home from my first lecture back at uni today,
and it appears i have been featured on the uk's homepage of youtube...

they featured the RNLI video i made.
i didn't think that video was very good when i was uploading it.
i thought it was a bit long and boring, but apparently youtube don't agree with me.

from a personal point of view, i'd have prefered if they had featured my 10 second project video. i think that video's more interesting, and i'm more proud of that video xD haha

but in a way, i'm glad they've featured the RNLI video as it tackles some important issues about the media's portrayal of the youth of today. also, it'll hopefully be the first step in getting a lot of exposure for the RNLI's "Who are you?" movement.

then again, from past experience... getting featured on the UK homepage often doesn't actually get you many more views, as most views come from the global hub, not the indivual countries' hubs. meh, who knows!?

i've just arrived at my uni accommodation in sheffield.
this will be my home for the next year :)
as you can see from the picture, my stuff is all just dumped down on the floor at the moment,
but i'm going to spend tonight trying to find places for everything.

i'm living on the 3rd floor of my building,
and there is no lift in this block...
so i had to carry all of my belongings up 3 flights of stairs.
it took 16 trips :'(
unsuprisingly, i was a bit tired by the time i was done...

i made friends with a girl who lives in the block opposite me though.
i helped her father carry a massive tv up to her flat as he couldnt lift it by himself.
i felt good for being able to help out :)

i've just got the internet hooked up in my room now,
and i've been checking my comments on my latest video, for the first time since uploading it yesterday...
it's had over 500 comments already, and only about 3 of them were negative.. wooop ^_^
it makes me happy when people like my videos :D

i thought this day would never come..

i've decided, i'm leaving myspace for facebook...

well, i'm not "leaving" myspace as such, i'll still sign in occasionally to accept friend requests, and go on musicians profiles and stuff, but i think i'm going to start using facebook a whole lot more. i realised that recently, i've been logging into myspace less and less. i used to log in pretty much every day, but now it's down to about once or twice a week, and i can't remember the last time i actually replied to any messages or comments on there.

i think the reason i'm drifting from myspace is because i don't really have many good friends who go on there very often. i've always just accepted all friend requests on myspace. so now, my friends list is filled with people who've seen me on youtube and added me. and the majority of comments i get are just "hi johnny, how are you?" ... or ... "hi johnny, i saw you on youtube. i like your videos."

it's obviously lovely to get these kinds of comments because it shows people are interested in getting to know me, which is awesome, but it's really hard replying to them all, and i don't really get anything from replying to them. so it seems pointless to keep using it, when all my real friends use facebook a whole lot more.

i'll miss myspace. using html to make my profile look all fancy. adding new profile songs when i come across an awesome new band. taking those "myspace" style photos. and so on. but, it's time to move on.

i'm new to facebook. i've had an account there for years, but never really used it. all of a sudden though, i'm finding it quite exciting. i've just spent about an hour on there looking around, tagging myself in photos, updating my about me section. it was fun.

and there are lot's of cool friends i have on there who use facebook a lot, which is wonderful, as maybe i'll get to speak to them a bit more...
also, i've decided i'm only going to add actual friends on facebook, and not just accept requests from people who've seen my youtube videos. i'll obviously still accept friends from youtube; people i've actually spoken to, or met up with IRL, but i'll not be accepting any random adds.

it turns out, someone on youtube has already done the 10 second project that i thought was my very own innovative idea... shucks :|
that someone was AmazingPhil. Phil is a super cool guy. I like his videos very much.
so it hasn't put me off from making the video.
i feel almost guilty, like i tried to steal phil's idea for a video and brand it as my own idea, but i hadn't actually seen that video of his, so i guess it's just one of those cases of... "great minds think alike" xD
kudos to Phil for coming up with the idea a few months earlier though ^_^
so yes, i'm going to make the video anyways; in fact, i've already been recording clips for the past 4 or 5 days :)

in other news, i've just found out whilst writing this post, that i might be going down to leeds tomorrow to see The Academy Is...

my friend kelly has an interview with their support band before the gig, and then she has a free +1 pass for the gig so she can write a review afterwards, and she asked if i'd like to be her +1

i need to look at train times etc as i'm working on wednesday so need to make sure i'll be back in time, but all being well i should be able to go on this little spontaneous trip tomorrow :D

i had a new idea for a video.
something similar might already have been done on youtube, but i'd like to think that it's a rather innovative idea for a video...
i'm not sure how well it will work though, but anyways, here is the idea;
i'm going to record a 10 second clip of myself every day.
i'm not sure how long for...
maybe 2 weeks, maybe a month,
but it will probably just be for 2 weeks.
i'm not sure what each 10 seconds will contain..
one day i might sing, another day i might dance, another day i might tell a joke.
or maybe i'll just quickly summarise my day into a 10 second blurb..
hopefully each day will be different though.
and at the end of the video project, i'll edit together all the clips in sequence, and it will be a few-minutes long video which gives a little insight into what my life has been like over the past few weeks...
so yes, that's my idea.. what do you think of it?
i'm quite excited about it. hopefully it will turn out well :)

i posted a blog a few days ago about how much i was going to be working over the bank holiday weekend. it was draining, and i'm super tired now, but thankfully today is tuesday, which means the weekend is over, and i have a bit of time to relax! ^_^

well, i literally only have "a bit" of time to relax, as i'm actually back at work again 5pm - 12midnight tonight.. but at least i've had all day off today so far :D

in other news... it is only 3-4 weeks now until i return to sheffield to go back to studying at university!

i'll be sad to leave all my friends here in durham, but i'm actually starting to look forward to the challenges this next year will bring.

and i'm also excited about moving into my new accomodation...

i don't know how well that image will show up in this blog, but basically, i have my own little self-contained studio apartment with a private kitchen / bedroom / ensuite! YAY!!!!!!

the rent is tres expensive though, so i'm going to have to get another part time job down in sheffield to go alongside my studies, in order for me to be able to afford it..

and i probably won't be able to afford to eat very often, if at all ... XD

but yes! exciting times ahead :D

the last blog post was possibly a bit cryptic,
but i fancied posting an "artsy" blog for a change.

it was written about my social anxiety disorder,
and the panic attacks i have suffered from in the recent past.

it tells the story of how it feels when a panic attack occurs,

It was my sister's birthday on Friday last week and I bought this cool frog to give to her as a present, but unfortunately I got too attached to the frog and couldn't bare to give it away, so I ended up keeping him for myself...

I still got my sister Season 1 of Smallville on DVD like she wanted though, so I'm sure she wouldn't be too upset about not getting this super cool green dude as a new friend...

I realised this past week that I really enjoy reading other people's blogs on the interwebz. It's a good way to keep up-to-date with what's going on in people's day-to-day lives, seeing as most people update their blogs more regularly than they do with their youtube videos... SO! I'm going to make an effort to get back into the habit of blogging, just incase there are any people still out there reading who might be interested in what's going on in my life :)

I'm feeling especially motivated to do this seeing as I seem to only make a video on le tubes once every 4-6 weeks at the moment :| I FAIL!

So hopefully by updating this blog more often, it will help me keep in touch with all the lovely internet peoples I have had the pleasure of getting to know ^_^

What the hell happened to poptarts?!

yesterday, I had a sudden craving for some chocolate flavoured poptarts!

so, I eagerly made my way to my local supermarket to purchase a box.

however, after looking around for them for quite some time with no success, I asked a nearby store assisstant where I could find them...

and to my complete suprise, and utter devastation, the store assisstant duely told me that the supermarket no longer sold them (?!)

i can't believe it! i know i haven't had a poptart for years, but they can't have stopped selling them completely?! when i was a kid they used to do loads of flavours... chocolate, strawberry, marshmallow, etc, etc... I LOVED THEM!

so yeah, i'm super upset that i couldn't buy any yesterday, so if anyone in the uk is reading this and knows where i can buy some poptarts, then leave me a comment plz!

I really wish I had a little more money...

There are soooo many coool tshirts that i want to buy at the moment :)

The good news is that I'm starting to apply for some part time work, which will give me a little income until i go back to university in september, so as soon as i get a job, i'll be able to afford to buy at least one of these lovely tshirts displayed in this here blog post...

I've also decided to start playing online poker again, and i credited my pokerstars account last night. I know most people think online gambling is wrong/dangerous/addictive, but it really isn't. I've made over $300 in the past from it, which I then withdrew from my account to buy my iPod. So i figured i would reinvest, and hopefully make enough to buy some tshirts, and possibly even make enough to even buy a Wii or an xbox360... I know there is a certain amount of luck involved in all card games, but with poker, there is a lot of skill involved too. Assessing risks, analysing the probabilities of likely cards which could come out, which will either give you an unbeatable hand, or give you a worthless hand... Sure, I'll have some bad days where I don't get the right cards, but if I play sensibly, then overall I'll come out on top, like I've always done in the past :)

Plus, poker is fun and i enjoy it, so it gives me a chance to make a bit of money from something i like doing, which is awesome.

On a separate note, I just wanted to thank everyone who left comments on my last blog post. It was so nice of you guys to offer encouragement about the videos I make. Sorry I haven't replied to any comments on here (blogger confuses me, and I don't even know how to reply to them..) but I do read all the comments here on my blog, so THANKS AGAIN!

I decided a while back that I was going to stop posting raw “vlogs” on my main youtube channel (JohnnyDurham19), because I usually find that those kind of videos aren’t very interesting (unless you're particularly funny, or entertaining, which I don't really think I am). Seeing as I’ve just recently hit 10,000 subscribers, I’d really prefer not to bore that many people to death with lame, boring vlogs.

I want to be proud of the videos I post. I want them to be creative, interesting, and entertaining; but the problem with this is that it then takes me weeks to actually get round to making a video which I feel is worthy enough to upload. Like for example, I’d love to post some kind of video to celebrate reaching 10,000 subscribers; but I don’t want to post some lame vlog, of me simply saying something cliché along the lines of “Thank you all so much, it really means a lot to me”.

I mean, obviously it does mean a lot to me that so many people have found my videos interesting enough to actually want to subscribe to me, but I want to find a creative way to thank everyone... except I can’t think of anything creative... which means no video...

I guess the point of this blog is just for me to moan about not being able to consistently come up with interesting and unique ideas for videos. Ahh well, I’m sure I’ll make a new video soon regardless... in fact, I'll be posting a new one in a few hours - although, it is by no means an original video idea; it's simply an imitation of someone else's video, but with my own little twist.

Ps, there is a reason for the random picture in the middle of this blog... I decided blogs would be more interesting (and aesthetically pleasing) if they had images in as well as words, so from now on, all my blogs will probably have some form of picture in them :) mhm

Two blog posts in two days?!
SHOCKING!!!

So, last night I went to an american diner with two of my best friends, Kelly and Nicolle; and Kelly has just come back from a trip to New York, and she brought me some rather delightful holiday gifts back. It was totally unexpected, but it was a lovely surprise.

She brought me back some hershey’s chocolates which are delicious! (we can’t buy hershey's chocolates very easily here in the UK). She also got me some super cool ‘I ♥ New York’ merchandise!

Good golly gosh.

I haven’t updated this blog in months! I’m very sorry to anyone who has been checking back here regularly for updates; although I have a feeling very few people (if any) would have been doing that...

Anyway, I just thought I would post a little blog today to talk about my weekend...

But first, here is a picture I took today of me with my favourite lamp shade!!!

Ok, so I may well end up talking about my weekend in my fiveawesomeguys video on Friday, but I wanted to put something down in words now, while it’s still relatively fresh in my memory :)

My weekend was AWESOME!

I took the train down to London on Saturday morning, and met up with Alex (nerimon) at Paddington Station, and then we got the train to Bath to go and see Charlie (charlieissocoollike).

The main point of the trip was for Alex and I to see Charlie act in the play he was in – His Dark Materials; and I must say, that I was blown away by how brilliant the play was. It was absolutely amazing! Charlie was exceptionally good in all his roles, especially Jopari which was his main character. Here is a picture of him in character (on the left):

So yeah, it was a privilege to see Charlie acting in the play, and he gave a brilliant performance.

The thing I enjoyed most about the weekend though was just that I got the chance to hang out with Charlie and Alex. I mean, I’ve met them both before at youtube gatherings, but because there is often so many people at those things, you never really get a chance to spend much time with everyone individually, which is why it was so great going to Bath this weekend as I got to spend a good amount of time with both of the guys; and they’re obviously both awesome people to spend time with, so it was definitely a fun weekend.

It’s hard to put into words why I had such a good time. I could easily start writing about all of the quirky, funny things that happened, like meeting Mr “i’ve got 35,000 views” poppadom guy, or when Charlie took us on a backstage tour of the theatre... but explaining all these things in a blog won’t give a true reflection of how fun they were, and they’ll probably just tarnish the memories, so I’ll stop writing now.

I don’t know if Charlie or Alex will get round to reading this, but if you guys have been reading, then thanks for an awesome weekend!!!

soooo, I ordered a new t-shirt yesterday from dropdead clothing.
I originally saw the t-shirt in a blog post on the peta2 website, and just had to get one.

apparently they are going to be quite a limited edition, which is rather cool i suppose...
but yeah... how awesome are vegetarian t-shirts?!
I love buying t-shirts which have a design which actually makes a point.
like my anti-smoking one, or my Make Poverty History campaign t-shirt.
it's nice to support good causes like that, as well as getting to own a really cool item of clothing :)

so hopefully it will arrive later this week. I got an email earlier today to say it had been dispatched :)
I think when it arrives I might throw it on to make a new video for the tubes.
I've been wanting to make a "The reasons I'm vegetarian are..." video for ages now, and after buying this t-shirt I think now would be as good of a time as any to get making that particular video :)

I've mentioned this scrubs video in a myspace bulletin before, but i'm going to talk about it again here now, because i've just finished watching it again. I love that no matter how bad i'm feeling, this scrubs episode can always cheer me up. To be fair, i think musicals in general are quite good at making you feel better :D

With that in mind, I think I'll cut this blog short and continue my uplifted mood, by going to watch hairspray.

but i just got a sweet email from someone named kaja, who found me on youtube, and then checked out my myspace, and decided to draw this tree for me...

it's so awesome! it's about a million times better than my tree..

i have no idea why i'm even bothering to write this, as no-one knows this blog even exists yet...

i haven't told anyone because i'm not even sure if i'm going to keep using it... but if you're reading this now then i guess i must have linked you to it in some way...

sooo... what do people write about in these things then... hmmmm.

well.. i had a good christmas i suppose, looking forward to new years as well. i think i'll post a "reflective" blog in a couple of days where i look back at 2007. yesh.

the past couple of weeks have been kinda cool on youtube."my secret" video got featured on the UK homepage and got about 100,000 views, and then a few days later I took part in the vlogbrothers secret project for awesome... which was indeed AWESOME! that video got over 70,000 views, and like 3,000 comments, which is pretty insane... the nerdfighters are amazing!

it turns out LisaNova is a nerdfighter too... who knew?!

she favourited my video, rated and commented on it, and even featured it for a few hours... and then i noticed she had subscribed to me too :]

she's got about 80,000 subs, and millions of views.. she's soooo e-famous, lol... so i was pretty excited about her subscribing. [sarcasm] yeah, i'm cool. [/sarcasm]

i love when people like LisaNova, HappySlip and WhatTheBuck subscribe to me... i dont know why... it's just nice to know that these people who make great videos themselves, and have thousands of fans, actually like my videos too... so umm... yeah. i think that's about all i can think to write about for now.

i'll try and write another blog soon.. maybe :P
