unplugging myself.

I was looking at the stats on my 'Are You Straight?' video today, and noticed I had over 1,000 hits from an embedded video on a site called somanyboys.net, so I went to check out the site. It's a site about cute guys -- so i'm not quite sure why my video's on it?! It isn't a porn site, but if you're not interested in seeing semi-naked guys, I wouldn't bother going to the site.

Anywho, the reason for this blog post is that I came across the picture you see above on their site, and it caught my attention. I think the reason it caught my attention is that it kind of summarises how I've been feeling for the past couple of days. I wake up, switch my laptop on, and i'm just sucked in to the cyberworld. I sit here all day, refreshing the same few websites, hoping someone will have posted a new youtube video to watch, or seeing what people are up to on twitter. It's like I've become dependant on getting a continuous fix of the internetz, and I just completely ignore the outside world. I literally don't think I've left my flat in the past 48 hours. It's not healthy.

I think I need to unplug myself. Go on a little hiatus. Take a break from the internet world.

My will power is astonishingly low when it comes to neglecting my laptop though, so I'll no doubt be back on in a couple of hours, but at least for now, I'm taking a break.

I'm going to sign out of all my online accounts. Then I'm going for a shower. Then I'm going to eat. Then I might have a wander into town. And then we'll see where the wind takes me.

Goodbye for now, internet world. <3

It's so true, that picture's really strange though but it does make you think! Have a pleasant wander! :]

It's good to take a small break sometimes.

Hey man! I've been feeling exactly the same! Here is a quote I always tell people that summarises what we are going through:

"Internet is absolute communication, absolute isolation".

If you are free even if during the week let me know and lets hang man! It's been far too long!

Take care man! A break is good every once in a while as Barry said!

I really understand that.
I sometimes look at the time and realise I've spent 5 hours online and done nothing productive.

Enjoy the outside world!

:D

Totally hear where you're coming from. The internet is so seductive that it's very hard to take time away from it and actually have a life. Take it easy!

I can relate to this a lot. Before christmas I was doing the same with twitter and youtube. It got to the point where it was making me feel ill!

I took the month of in January only opening my laptop in the Morning to see if I had any important e-mails

I'm back now, and as much as I enjoy the Internet there are times when I wish it wasn't around!

Take are Johnny hope your feeling better soon :)

Good luck with your venturing out of the cyber world. It's a hard thing to do. I as well am dependent on the internet, mostly on msn. So see you when you come back. :)

Live alittle ;)

I suppose the thing is that when one becomes dependant on the world inside the computer you really should take a little break. Re charge your own battery and not the computer's:)

It's quite strange that we become so attached to our little cyberworld and all that inhabits inside it. I hope your hiatus is a good one. We all need a break from the internet wonder world sometimes:)

That happens to me often, I become so connected somedays, kind of like how today has been actually. It's always good to get away for a while.

Unplugging is a great idea. There's nothing like getting away from the wired world. I work on a web team for University College Cork in Ireland so I am online all day everyday. Its nice then, at weekends to just disconnect from it all and take myself off into town or out for a drive or something. Hope it works for you, Johnny. Take Care,

Maurice

Ah, I used to have that picture on my desktop. I felt the same way about it as you, my solution was to unplug - and go wireless! So i get my net fix, but I can go out and socialise and enjoy the wonders of the world at the same time. 'tis awesome.
